Interactive Storage Tools
These three tools run entirely in your browser. The treemap uses a fixed demonstration dataset. The calculator and converter use only the numbers you type. Nothing on this page reads your disks, requests filesystem access, or pretends to scan a computer.
Interactive disk treemap
Rectangle area is proportional to the sample size. Choose a folder to open it, then use the breadcrumb or “Up one level” to move back. Tab reaches each rectangle. Enter or Space activates the focused one. The detail panel repeats the size in text.

Storage usage calculator
Enter the total disk capacity, the space already used, and any additional usage you are planning. Available space is capacity minus used space. Remaining space is available space minus the planned addition. Used percent is used space divided by capacity.
On a 512 GB disk with 470 GB used, available space is 42 GB. Planning to add 20 GB leaves 22 GB. Use the example button to load those figures, or type your own. Keep one unit for all three fields. GB here means decimal gigabytes. GiB means gibibytes.
File size converter
Decimal units step by 1,000. Binary units step by 1,024. One GB is 1,000,000,000 bytes. One GiB is 1,073,741,824 bytes, so 1 GB is about 0.9313 GiB. A drive sold as 1 TB holds 1,000,000,000,000 bytes, which is about 931.32 GiB. Windows has historically divided by 1,024 while still showing the labels KB, MB, and GB, which is why the capacity in File Explorer can look smaller than the number on the box.
| Unit | Bytes | Family |
|---|---|---|
| KB | 1,000 | Decimal |
| MB | 1,000,000 | Decimal |
| GB | 1,000,000,000 | Decimal |
| TB | 1,000,000,000,000 | Decimal |
| KiB | 1,024 | Binary |
| MiB | 1,048,576 | Binary |
| GiB | 1,073,741,824 | Binary |
| TiB | 1,099,511,627,776 | Binary |
